GEORGIA ORAL HEALTH PREVENTION PROGRAM

District 4 Public Health, Georgia Oral Health Prevention Program (GOHPP) focuses on providing education and preventive services to underprivileged children that either do not have a dental home, have no insurance, or have access to care issues.

The GOHPP is primarily an elementary school-based program that provides dental exams, prophylaxis (cleaning), fluoride applications and sealants through the use of portable dental equipment and/or a mobile dental trailer. Sealants are a thin plastic barrier that is painted onto the chewing surfaces of the adult molars. This noninvasive procedure helps to prevent decay by providing a barrier between the pits and fissures of the tooth surface and the decay causing bacteria and acid. Its protection potential is second only to fluoride in its ability to prevent cavities.

We also provide oral health screenings, fluoride mouthrinse programs for areas without optimum fluoridation in the drinking water, dental health education presentations and general outreach.

Our education presentations are available to any youth group/organization, from toddlers to teenagers with topics varying to be age and group appropriate. For more information, or to schedule a presentation, please contact:
